Smart cycles
The lifespan of a building only fully begins when the architect and builders have gone and the use starts. For Tussen Ruimte architecture is expressed both in buildings as well as in the processes of dwellers collectives shaping community space; innovation of building components or renewable energy applications. Waste production is a symptom of inefficiency and can be replaced by smart cyclic processes –generating new ideas, energy or building components, instead of being exhaustive. One example is the 'text-a-bility' project below: new building components are made of waste textile and used for contemporary typologies such as temporary space or multi-media pavilions. Tracing material cycles technically also highlights moments of culture and history, as we experienced in the Dura Coignet project.
